I love going night fishing because of the variety of game fish you can catch at night. You can catch walleye,catfish,crappie and bass ! It doesn’t matter they are all their for an easy meal.And it is my opinion I could of caught very few of these fish without a good underwater fishing light source.
#2 Surface night fishing lights.
Surface lighting is very important not only for fishing but for your safety. I want to identify two primary areas that surface lighting will help you. As I stated above you need to be safe out on the water. Surface lighting will identify you to other night fisherman and recreational boaters. There are not many out at night but enough to cause watercraft accidents. MOST of these accidents are form improper surface lighting. The second reason is very important too. The light source will pro-ject across the surface and attract insects, yes I said attract insects! Insects attract bait fish and bait fish attract mare game fish! Just make sure you hang these lights outside of your boat so you keep most of the insects away from you. If you use a Coleman type lantern for night fishing make sure you shield the side facing into the boat so the light reflect back out and across the water. This limit the amount of insects that will attack you in the boat.
#3 Pre-Planning is important! Try to get out on the water at least an hour before night fall and identify the areas you plan to fish for the night. Identify land marks in these areas that can be seen at night. You may end up moving to multiple night fishing locations but having these area mapped out prior to nightfall is very important. If you have a GPS system they are a excellent tool for any night fishing pre-planning just lock in the coordinates for each location and you are set for the night.

Tying a fly fishing knot is one of the most important things a fly fisherman must know how to do.Since the line is actually composed of different types of lines in addition to the fly at the end of it, tying a solid fly fishing line knot is extremely important so that none of the parts come loose during the fishing process, causing the fisherman to have to tell about the 'one that got away.’
Tying a Good Knot
There are some general tips that help a fly fisherman to tie good fly fishing knots that will not come loose in inopportune times. One tip is to moisten the knot with water or saliva before pulling it tight, which helps it to hold more tightly once it is pulled. Another tip is to tighten the knot with a steady pull rather than jerking it tight, since it will cause it to have a more uniform snugness throughout the knot, so that a fish tugging at it will not all of a sudden draw a part of the knot tight and cause the line to snap.
In addition, it is always important to check the fishing line around each knot to make sure there is not an abrasion or any other feature that might show the fly fisherman that he may need to redo the fly fishing knot in that particular area. If the line or the knot looks worn or frayed then he is wise to go ahead and replace the line and tie another fly fishing knot in that section so that he will not lose any line or flies, not to mention a great catch. When the fly fishing knots are formed, they should also be trimmed so that there are not any stray pieces of line hanging out to the side. The fly fisherman has to be careful about this however so that he does not cut too close and ruin the fly fishing knot he just produced.
There are a series of different fly fishing knots that are used when getting a fly fishing line ready for the water. Starting closest to the reel, an Arbor knot is usually used to connect the backing to the spool of the reel. After that, an Albright fly fishing knot is usually used to tie the fly line to the backing, which is a little tricky because the lines are usually made of different materials. A Nail knot is next, which connects the leader to the fly line, which is important because this is what turns the fly over at casting.Next is the Double Surgeon's fly fishing knot which is used to connect the tippet to the leader. Finally, the Improved Clinch knot is usually used to connect the fly to the tippet, thus completing the fly fishing line.

When you decide where you want to go on your next fishing trip in the summer months it is time to do some pre-planning. If you want to save precious fishing time then you need to construct a plan for the start of your fishing trip. I have provide you below some simple walleye fishing tips for fishing walleye live baits in the summer..
#1 Pick up a topographical map of the area you plan to fish.
Circle all weed bed areas on your map that have adjacent depth changes of more then a foot. When the weather is right and there is a wave chop, these areas are gold mine for walleye fishing.
#2 Contact a local bait shop.
A key question to ask , is “What is the best live bait choice if I am going to be walleye fishing? Make sure you specify to the bait dealer the time of year you will be fishing. It is surprising to me how many walleye anglers bypass this simple very important step.
#3 Attach shinny spinner blades and rattles to your live bait walleye fishing rigs.
For added attraction, you can add shinny spinner blades and line rattles. Walleyes are attracted to flashes and they can hear the rattle vibrating in the water.
# 4 Suggested live baits for walleye fishing:
As a rule of thumb, the norm suggested live bait for summer walleye fishing is either night crawlers or ribbon leaches. Your conversation on a local fishing chat room or from a local bait dealer may change the norm. They may know some specific tips to fish the local area that may be different from the norm. In the spring the norm usually is walleye minnows. Depending on the time you plan to fish the area minnows that are caught from the local waters still may be a viable live bait option in the summer months also.
#5 Weather conditions:
5a When the day is sunny and there is no wave chop, head to the weed beds! Go deep into the beds and look for open pockets . Vertical jig using a ¼” oz lead head jig tipped with a ribbon leach or large night crawler. Attach bright spinner blades and line rattles if needed. These areas are hard to fish, but surprisingly productive. I pulled a 6 lb walleye out of one of these pockets.
5b When there is a wave chop , regardless if it sunny out or not head to the weed bed areas you have circled that have a adjacent depth drop off. Fish these areas by back trolling or drifting with bottom bouncing live bait rigs. Vary the length of the trailing leader until you get the right combination. These areas can be walleye fishing sweet spots when there are wavy choppy water weather conditions.
