Salmon fishing the hog Farm Monterey for big Chinook tyee

Fish for big hog salmon at Monterey famous Hog Farm bite off Point Pinos. Got into them right away…with first one on a clear FBR™ at 90 feet depth on downrigger. Shortly the second salmon came on a red FBR at 90 feet on the wire. Had more take downs but nobody home. Weather was turning bad and headed back before it got to rough. The Hog Farm is the 300 foot line around Point Pinos and is referred to that as that where a lot of big hog salmon or caught real early in the season. This is a beautiful Coastline area near Monterey and Camel and not far from the ramp. It was an epic day of fun and sun. Had the pleasure of fishing with the Wildwood (Craig Wood) today at Lake Del Valle in Livermore, CA. The fishing was great and the catching awesome with limits brought home for the dinner table. I might add the trout were very tasty as my wife cook up a nice meal and shared some with friends. We were using Berkley sparkle chartreuse Power Bait with Shelton self releasing hook and TadPole™. We fished in several areas including the narrows, and the two large bays. I was a little excited so you will hear me talk jibberish at times while trying to process my thoughts. We weren’t able to get the greatest footage. The camera wasn’t on for a lot of the better fish but oh well. I’m sure we’ll get plenty of good footage throughout the year. If you have doubts about purchasing these rods, you shouldn’t! They’re awesome! If you know what you’re doing and how to fish using ultra light tackle you will have no problem being successful with these rods!

Solo Salmon fishing Filming fighting netting trolling FBR

Solo fishing for salmon while filming the fight..Not for the faint hearted. Hung into a salmon with a 40 pound mind trapped in a 18 pound body. It put a noble fight making several runs and solo netted while filming at the same time. I was using a lower FBR main rig and a FBR dropper rig. The salmon came on the dropper rig which should have been approximately half way to the bottom rig which was at 70 feet. I was 300 yards towards Hawaii from the Duzberry buoy green can near Duzberry Reef with is approximate; 9 miles from Bonita point and a bout 2.5 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge. Great weather. It sure is nice to here the reel sing again. I can’t believe how many Nice folks came by and said Hi today. Met a lot of folks on the water. Fished the Lake Shasta Lake Trout Derby this weekend with rep Ray Link. We left on thursday morning and drove up in very windy condition which remain with us through Saturday making it fun to fish with boat control being a full time job. We had our share of tangles during the pre-fish as we were pulling different lures. On the tournament days we pulled identical setups so very few tangles even tho wind remained a boat control job but the fish were biting like wild dogs. I only brought back two fish so catch and release was the norm except for tournament fish. There were 150 fishermen in the tournament and we were just outside the money on our weights. Used baby Minnow Bullet Rotator™ on pre-fish and Shasta tackle stuff on tournament days. Saw Tran and his fishing buddy. Saw Harold Jones of Sugarloaf Cottage Resort a long time friend and stayed with Gary Mirales of Shasta Tackle. Event held at Bass Hole Bar and Grill in Lakehead, California. The Lake is very low with only a couple of launches open and low water bring all the boats in favorite hot bite areas and making watching where you were going just like a hot salmon bite on the ocean.
